Skinloop is a skincare quiz and routine recommendation tool. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Skinloop, how we use it, and how it's stored. We've tried to write this in plain language rather than dense legal text.
Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand how people use Skinloop: page views, quiz completions, and which product links get clicked. These events are tied to an anonymous identifier, not your name or email. We don't collect free-text answers, and we don't track the content of AI-generated explanations.
Your browser's local storage.Your quiz answers (skin type, concerns, sensitivity, goals) are saved in your browser's local storage so your routine and results are there when you come back. This data stays on your device. We don't copy it to a server or database.
AI explanations.When you view your routine, your quiz answers and the recommended product details are sent to OpenAI to generate short, personalized explanations for each step. We cache the response in your browser's local storage for 24 hours so we don't regenerate the same explanation twice.
Your quiz responses are sent to OpenAI for one purpose only: generating the personalized explanations shown on your routine. OpenAI is not used for advertising, and we don't use it to build a profile of you across visits. Skinloop does not sell your information to anyone, and because Skinloop has no user accounts, we don't permanently store your quiz answers on our own servers.
PostHog, our analytics provider, may set cookies or use browser storage to distinguish visitors and measure usage. Skinloop itself uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your quiz answers and cache AI explanations. We don't currently show a cookie-consent banner. If that changes, this policy will be updated to match.
AI explanation caches expire automatically after 24 hours. Your quiz profile stays in your browser's local storage until you clear your browser data or switch devices or browsers. Skinloop has no server-side database, so there's nothing for us to delete on our end.
You can clear your quiz results at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, or by using a private/incognito window. Most browsers also let you block or delete analytics cookies at the browser level.
Skinloop is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
If we make meaningful changes to how Skinloop handles data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
